In 2019, we commissioned an extraordinary drum set from British Drum Company (BDC). Fast forward to 2024, and this impressive 17-piece kit has returned, awaiting its next devoted owner. Finished in BDC’s first-ever Legend Special Edition —Spalted Beech—this kit represents the pinnacle of British craftsmanship. Created by BDC’s original team, including Keith, Alan, Chris, and Duncan, it holds a special place in our hearts, embodying the highest standards of British drum manufacturing with exclusively British-made shells and stunning design.

Previously owned by a passionate collector with an extensive array of high-end drum kits, this unique set has come back to us due to a new addition in their collection. As reflected in the photos, this kit is impeccably maintained, featuring its original factory tags and drum heads, with only minimal signs of use. In 2019 what set this kit apart was its Book Matched Spalted Beech exterior, sourced from BDC’s exclusive private stock. The level of detail is what truly stands out. From the sleek chrome B-badge and double-sided vent hole badge to the stunning holographic interior badge, BDC showcases unparalleled attention to detail. The hand-rubbed Spalted Beech finish is flawless, while the internal reinforcement rings are meticulously crafted for both aesthetics and durability. The Palladium hardware, designed by expert designer Alan Kitching, extends across the entire kit, offering seamless functionality and visual appeal. Inspired by the Art Deco era, the custom-designed lugs, bass drum claws, and tom brackets elevate the kit’s aesthetic.

The 10-ply Scandinavian Birch shells, crafted using BDC’s signature Cold Press Moulding technique, measure 6mm in thickness and are reinforced with 2-ply rings for extra durability. The precision-cut 45-degree bearing edges ensure optimal sound quality. The Legend SE shell’s sonic profile delivers rich, low-end tones that can be easily tuned up for added character, making it versatile for live performances and studio sessions alike. Outfitted with Remo USA drum heads, the kit delivers an incredible playing experience.

BDC’s Palladium hardware offers more than just looks—it’s functional excellence. The smaller lugs adorn the toms and floor toms, while the larger version complements the bass drum. The Palladium bass drum claws maintain the Art Deco theme with cast alloy construction. The tom brackets feature a unique vertical alignment that allows unrestricted shell resonance and are compatible with standard 10.5mm–12.5mm L arms, ensuring compatibility with your favorite mounting hardware. Integrated memory locks on both floor and rack toms further enhance stability and ease of setup.
