THE LEGEND
On first looks at this drum kit what really excites us is BDC’s incredible attention to detail. The beautiful Chrome B-Badge, the vent hole is also a secondary badge (inside and outside the drum and then there is the stunning serial number sticker inside each drum too) Skye Blue is one of BDC's Exo-Tone finishes, because BDC cold press mould their shells this technique allows BDC put a laminate into the mould first when building the shell. Using this process ensures the shell is the correct size unlike when a shell is wrapped afterwards. Whilst much of this is more based on the look of the drum rather than the sound, it goes to show how committed BDC are to fully realising the complete build of this product. The Palladium lugs and snare strainers are all made by BDC and that is before we talk about the shells. In a world where many drum makers are outsourcing a great deal of components that is certainly not the case with BDC and it makes for a superior looking and feeling product.
The Legend series shells are 10 ply Scandinavian Birch, these are cross laminated plies that utilise BDC’s signature Cold Press Moulding technique which results in a 6mm thick shell. 2 ply reinforcement rings are then added top and bottom to create a super strong shell, BDC then precision cut the 45 degree bearing edges.
This snare drum is up there with the finest birch shell drums ever made. It has a beautiful low end tone, but can be tuned up for tonnes of character. Like the Legend drum kit this snare is very comfy across the tuning spectrum and will suit all kinds of genres and will be an incredible kit for Live or the Studio.
The Palladium hardware is fitted as standard, the lug draws inspiration from the Art Deco period, its a lug that loves lights and looks great from all angles. The Palladium snare throw off is smooth and precise and again looks great further drawing inspiration from the art deco period.
