Here we have a Limited Edition LB402B chrome on brass 14 x 6.5 snare drum. Originally these highly collectable transition badge drums were launched in the 1960's by Ludwig and were brought back in to the range as a limited edition run in the 1990's. This particular model also features Tube Lugs, the snare system has been upgraded to the more recent Ludwig Throw and Butt which are far more durable and smooth in operation. This Limited Edition run feature an Oval Brass Badge with the words Brass Edition and a Unique serial number.
Ludwig’s Chrome over Brass snare drum, introduced in 1960 as the Super Ludwig, was the predecessor to the Supraphonic. The brass alloy coupled with a chrome plating offers the musical undertones favored of brass with just the right touch of added focus and treble.
Though short lived from its original release, the Chrome Over Brass would go on to become one of the most sought after and in demand drums that would lead to its re-release in the 90's like the one here. Today Ludwig has come full circle with the re-introduction of the COB under the name Super Series. Unlike the original drums and current Super series this drum features Chrome fittings, the limited edition badge and Tube Lugs.
