REMO MASTERTOUCH 6 PIECE DRUM KIT CUSTOM MADE FOR GILSON LAVIS (JOOLS HOLLAND)

Here we have a very unique piece of UK rock and roll memorabilia. This is a custom finished Remo Mastertouch drum set which was specially produced for Gilson Lavis around 1995 / 1996. Gilson played the kit weekly on the 'Later with Jools Holland' TV show playing as part of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues orchestra, the band collaborated every week with music industry royalty powered by Gilson. We've found a lovely piece of footage with a 3 way drum battle featuring Gilson, Steve White and the late great Charlie Watts, this is the kit Gilson plays, at the time of listing we also have the kit Steve played on that same evening here at our store. This set also features on the cover of Gilson's solo album Drumbaba released in 1998.

We believe that Gilson had enough drums to make two complete sets, there was also some matching Remo world percussion tubano drums which Gilson still has. At some point the kit was split in to two halves, this is one half which we think has the better sizes. Offered here is the 24 x 16 Bass Drum, 12 x 8 Tom, 16 x 16 Floor Tom, 14 x 5.5 snare and a pair of 6 & 8" toms. The 6 & 8 appear like bongos (attached together and mounted through the centre) but they are actually single headed concert toms.

The kit still looks and sounds great, It could be just a great kit for a player in a really exclusive finish or we can see collectors having an interest given the long period and amount of broadcasts the kit featured on.
