SONOR HILITE 5 PIECE DRUM KIT, RED MAPLE LACQUER, SUPER RARE (PRE-LOVED)

Here we have a Sonor Hilite from the later end of the production run Circa 1993/94. Like with many of the kits Sonor have produced over the years the main apparent theme throughout the kit is ‘no compromise’ The Hilite looks and sounds formidable and there is innovation everywhere. Many of the features on the Hilite paved the way for the companies future offerings such as the Designers, Delite, Prolite and the SQ2 series. What is really interesting about the Hilite is the specification of the Maple shell which is unique to the series. Whilst Sonor have gone on to offer more Maple Shell options, nothing is currently offered that replicates this specification which makes the Hilite sonically unique.

Working with the highest grade of Maple available the Hilite shells are 9 ply , 7.5mm thick , cross-laminated. The sound is full and warm with great definition and stick attack. What is lovely about this package is the completeness, there is a full Sonor Hardware pack, even the four toms also feature the factory standard Sonor Medium resonant heads and the original Gold Logo on Black EP bass drum head is still fitted which further enhance the look and originality of the set. Everything is original and working perfectly, exactly as Sonor predicted and guaranteed it would 25 plus years ago. These kits were a fortune back in the late 80’s / Early 90's and it was rare to see them. They very rarely come up for sale, especially in this condition, we certainly know owners who have owned and kept these kits from new and never intend to sell.

The kit here is a 5 piece, it's in stunning Red Maple finish, unlike some you see which have differing shades of Red between the drums, this one all matches (partly because colour matching improved later in the run) the colour is a very vibrant red too, it hasn't faded to the pinker colour you sometimes see on the early production models. The drums and the fittings are in great shape, The back bass drum hoop does have some nicks where the claws have gripped the edges of the hoop and the normal bass drum pedal rash is visible too.

Everything on the kit works perfectly, the shells and bearing edges are perfect, the ferro manganese steel hoops are all in round and very good condition.

We have put new Evans G2 Tom Batters and an EMAD bass drum batter on to the kit making it ready to work.

This Hilite is a very unique drum kit, we think this would suit anyone looking for a great looking and sounding Maple drum kit, this is probably one of the finest Maple sets ever produced. Its Rare, collectable but most importantly it’s very playable!
