Here we have the Archer 10 ply English Yew Snare Drum. English Yew is a shell we certainly had not come across in drums before, this wood is used to create Medieval English longbows hence the name. This is certainly a drum that sounds as good as it looks, the sound is warm, controlled and super well defined. When working with the drum for a recent snare drum demo video it certainly stood out as a strong favourite amongst an intimidating line up. On the cosmetics front, BDC have knocked it out of the park again, the drum is jam packed with beautiful touches, firstly you can't miss the single flange 5mm rolled steel hoops placed under tension with vintage mini claws and gold plated tension rods. On the back of the drum there is an arrow head vent badge bearing The Archer name (another subtle but beautiful tie in to the heritage of the wood). The front BDC badge is also Gold with a Green sycamore back plate. Just when you think it can't get better have a look inside and treat yourself to another breath taking view of the beautiful English Yew wood and the new BDC wooden badge bearing the encased hologram.

For anyone looking for something different, this is certainly a drum to check out, the sound of this drum feels far more unique when compared to shells we have become more used to hearing. This will suit a variety of genres, its comfortable throughout the tuning spectrum and offers a phenomenal dynamic range too. Our overall feel of the drum on test was that it has a great deal of upfront punch, however the drum is never harsh, the tone is warm and full. The way the drum sounds without any need for dampening is also impressive, the overtones produced from the drum are pleasing and not overbearing. Truly a treat for the eyes and the ears!
