About HHG

At HHG drums, every build starts with the highest quality materials. For their stave and segment builds, HHG hand select and purchase only the finest domestic hardwood lumber, the exotic lumber is supplied to them by a specialty lumber dealer who is capable of getting any exotic or specialty species from around the globe.

This lumber is then milled in house from its rough cut form, to perfectly square, flat and true stock, ready to begin the process of becoming a drum. from here the lumber is machined with the highest level of precision into many segments that will join together flawlessly to create a drum shell.

The rough drum shell, or "blank" is then attached to a specialty wood lathe capable of spinning the drum at around 14000 rpm. While spinning, the shell is carved with specialty chisels, by hand, into a perfect cylindrical drum shell. This method is more time consuming, and requires more skill, but it allows HHG to build amazing segmented and stave shell drums that other companies are incapable of creating.

About this Snare

This shell is handcrafted with integrity from the finest hand selected hardwoods. This shell has some really cool custom details. In the center of the shell there is a contoured detail and the contour pattern is repeated again at the top bottom of the shell, giving the drum a flowing and unique shape.

This is a very unique drum with a very unique aesthetic and voice. The foundation of this drum is the handmade, solid wood, Ash Stave shell. A quality drum always starts with a quality shell. HHG shells are meticulously crafted from hand-selected pieces of the highest grade solid lumber. Stave construction offers many tonal and aesthetic advantages over traditional plywood shells, the most notable being their powerful and articulate voice, followed closely by their unique grain patterns.

The finish on this drum is also unique and handcrafted. The drum is finished with an in-house Blended nitrocellulose lacquer, in a custom tinted electric to deep navy blue burst.

It sounds great- nice warm, articulate notes, and a huge tuning range, it sounds great tuned low, high, or anywhere in between. The rim shots on this snare are powerful and cutting, while keeping ghost notes crisp - a true workhorse for studio work or live.
