This one is a 5 piece 3 up / 1 down configuration over a 22 x 18 Undrilled Bass Drum. The kit is finished in Lazurite Gold which is simply jaw dropping!. The long-awaited drum kit from Sakae Osaka Heritage took inspiration from the heritage and concept of the esteemed Sakae “Almighty” drum kit admired by drummers around the world, Evolved, as its name suggests, marks the start of a new era in drums. Designer Shun Tsuji says that the brief was to make the Evolved series sound more versatile so that the kit can adapt easily to the ever-changing and increasingly wide variety of genres, with a much neater sound and even clearer directivity.
The Evolved kit uses specially selected superior maple wood that provides a perfectly balanced sound, rich with musical full harmonics. The Evolved kit builds upon the ingredients of the respected “Almighty” legacy and then refines the details even further. The number of plies, thickness of the wood and the exterior design allows Evolved to deliver the best sounding SAKAE kit to date.
The toms are 6 ply, the floor toms are 7 ply, as are the kick drums. However, Shun purposely gave each of these plies different thicknesses depending on their role in the kit, so for example, even though both toms and kick drum have 7 plies, the kick drum plies are thicker.
Sakae have always mounted toms from the bottom of the drum, Shun discovered that putting the mount on the lower side would not only increase the lower frequencies, but also reduce unnecessary extra harmonics. Toms and floor toms use this mounting system. The rubber spacers used on the kick drum legs also enhance the lower frequencies considerably.
Sakae is famous for stunningly unique and elegant finishes. The Evolved builds on this legacy and offers kits in 6 colour variations, a mixture of some of the most commonly requested colours, as well as some new and exciting finishes.

- Kick Drum Spurs use high-quality spacers which prevents the transmission of any vibrations from the floor to the kick drum. This allows for a stable low-end frequency on any kind of floor.
- Tom and Floor Tom Mounts - A specially developed “Cradle Mounting System” has been designed so that holders are equipped with metal bridges from the lug at the bottom. This system delivers amazing sounding shells by preventing any vibration going to the mounts. In addition, more driver is achieved by supporting overall weight near the bottom of the shell
