LUDWIG USA CLASSIC MAPLE 4 PIECE DRUM KIT, CHERRY STAIN, 1996 (PRE-LOVED)

Here we have a very unique Ludwig Classic Maple from 1996. This is a stunning specification in Cherry Stain Lacquer. From the specification the kit originally would have been a complete special order. The kit has Long Lugs with the Classic Bass Drum, Tom Mount and Bass Drum Spurs (as apposed to the Modular option)

In 1996 the Classic was the 6 ply Maple option (4 ply Maple was offered as the Super Classic), The kit has Telescoping Bass Drum Spurs, 2.3mm Hoops and is in standard size options which were quite unusual during this period.

Cherry Stain is on of Ludwig's natural finish options, Ludwig described the natural finishes as 'Rich Lustrous natural stains on maple, hand applied, UV treated and coated with polyurethane'

Sonically this kit sounds exactly as you would expect and whilst the sizes will lend themselves very naturally to Jazz and Bop applications, the kit is very capable of tuning down with thicker head choices and would make a fantastic contemporary compact kit too.

This is a fairly rare opportunity to get a standard sized Classic from this era with the stunning long lug specification. This is one of the nicest kits we've seen from this era of Ludwig. The shells and chrome work are absolutely immaculate, a very special set.
