MAPEX BLACK PANTHER RETROSONIC PURE WALNUT DRUM KIT WITH YAMAHA WOOD HOOPS (PRE-LOVED)

Here we have a rare Mapex Retrosonic. Mapex only produced 100 of these kits with around 30 hitting the UK. The kit is an 8.1mm pure Walnut shell, it was only offered in one configuration. Arguably the most sought after kit from the limited edition Black Panther ranges, the Retrosonic has fast become a collectable beast mainly down to its great looks and sound quality.

This kit has been very tastefully upgraded with Yamaha Wood Hoops (another highly in demand and rare product) the bass drum hoops have also been changed to Natural Maple Hoops to accentuate the look. One point to note is a repair done by Richard Newby of Newby Drums on the inner ply of the bass drum. There was a slight lift starting from the edge for no more than 3 inches, this has been clamped and re-glued. There is no visual or sonic impact, but it is only right that it should be mentioned.

The kit also includes a set of Hardcase Deluxe Granite cases for the 3 drums and the Falcon Snare stand for the tom. The kit is in excellent condition, it’s been well cared for and not subjected to any heavy gigging. The Yamaha Wood hoops are like new and really add another level of class to what already is a really great drum kit. This kit is a head turner gaining many admirers since arriving here at the shop.
