Here we have something a bit different and breathtakingly finished! This is a Spaun Custom Series drum kit that was originally built in 2004. This actual kit featured in Spaun's full line catalogue at the time and it is still shown as an example on their website today.

Custom Series 

The kit is made up of 100% maple shells, they are 8 ply 5.5mm thick, Spaun say this specification provide a great blend of attack and low end. Spaun don't use reinforcing rings on their drums and have always maintained that with modern day shell building technology that thin shells can stay strong and in-round with out any need to reinforce them.

Spaun also offer their Solid Brass Resonator (SBR) Lug on the custom series kits. Because there are no hollow cavities inside the lug which can absorb shell resonance. The SBR lug was designed to be small, stylish and sturdy and is connected via one contact point enhancing shell resonance. The lugs on this kit (as with all the other metal work) are Gold Plated.

Spaun use and invented the double 45 degree bearing edge for their shells. The double edge insures that the drum head alignment is correct placing the edge on the flat surface of the head. This design has allowed better and easier tuning (particularly at lower pitch) and with this improved seating reduces the need for over tightening.

The finish on this kit is incredible and one of Spaun's most pain staking and labour intensive processes. The kit is a Gold Sparkle high gloss lacquer finish with Red and Orange Flame graphic over the top. The finish is hand applied, hand sanded and hand buffed in to a smooth as glass lacquer finish. The look of this kit is completed with Gold hardware throughout.

  • New Evans Batter heads fitted! EC2 on the toms, EMAD on the bass drum. Original Spaun reso heads all still fitted.
  • PreLoved - 8/10 Condition - Shells are in perfect condition, gold hardware is all exceptional apart from some discolouration on the rims mounting plate (this could easily be replaced) The back red sparkle bass drum hoop has had some touching up done.
