With the new STAR series hardware, Tama has taken a big step forwards when it comes to drumming hardware. The STAR hardware is equipped with the True-Sound Insulation Mute system. This mute is fitted into the top pipe of the stand, and makes your toms and cymbals sound better by preventing the stand from absorbing most, if not all, of their vibrations. Another feature that should be mentioned is the Ring-True Cymbal Felt system. This means the felts have been partially hollowed out so that only the edges make contact with the cymbal. This allows the cymbal to resonate freely and produce a more natural sound.

Another practical feature is the way you can adjust the boom arm. Where you would normally need to loosen two nuts to adjust the height, length and angle of the boom arm, this stand allows you to adjust all those things at once. This saves you quite a bit of time and effort. The eventual angle of you cymbal is determined by the final part of this stand. On normal stands, this is fitted with a geared system, which means that it can be difficult to obtain the perfect angle for your cymbal. The HTC107W is equipped with a gearless system that allows you to position the cymbal at any angle you can imagine. Furthermore, you can also adjust the length and height of the L-rod that holds the cymbal, to accommodate the size of the cymbal you're using, for instance. As a finishing touch, Tama has also fitted this stand with a TILT system, that allows you to adjust the length of one of the three legs to tilt the entire stand.
